Dr Bickerton is very happy to see clients on a private basis in the Holmedale Health Consulting rooms.

He is an expert in the outpatient treatment of a wide range of common mental disorders and is sympathetic to the difficulty these conditions present for the individuals, their family and carers.

He uses a non-threatening, informal but structured approach to quickly put clients at their ease so that they can best explain their difficulties. He also understands the stigma of mental health issues and aims to make the consultation less worrisome and easier for the client.

Dr Bickerton will summarise what he sees as the difficulties in an empathetic manner, using clearly understandable language. He will suggest possible diagnoses and options for treatment with the client, family and carers as well as providing a written summary report.

With a varied medical background as a GP and Consultant Psychiatrist as well as being trained in medical law, Dr Bickerton is able to provide reports on a wide range of medico-legal issues.

Dr Bickerton has a reporting track record at the highest level, able to provide comprehensive yet concise, professional reports within clear deadlines.
He is fully aware of the requirements of reporting for criminal proceedings, occupational matters and risk analyses.

He is an examiner for the General Medical Council, a member of the Parole Board, a consultant to the Medical Protection Society, speaking nationally about interpersonal skills and risk as well as a lecturer at the Peninsula Medical School.
